Elisabeth Balachova
is a dedicated environmentalist who was inspired to combat climate change in the 8th grade after watching Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. A B.S. in Business Economics specializing in Environmental Economics gives her a unique perspective on the connections between economic development and ecological sustainability.
In her previous real estate career, Elisabeth was an ambassador for the Tri-State Social Equity Task Force, where she deepened her understanding of systemic racism and redlining. This motivated her to commit to viewing all issues as intersectional, including the environment.
She later transitioned to the clean energy sector at Sealed, focusing on nationwide energy efficiency initiatives. Her building science and project management expertise now benefits low-income communities at Mid-Hudson Energy Transition.
Beyond her career, Elisabeth practices veganism, competitively plays tennis, and volunteers at Woodstock Animal Sanctuary. She’s excited to work alongside the Environmental Justice Fellows and make a difference in Newburgh!
