PFAS CONTAMINATION FROM NEWBURGH TO ALABAMA
In 2016, public officials disclosed the City of Newburgh's main drinking water supply had been contaminated for decades from the use and spillage of AFFF firefighting foam released from Stewart Air National Guard Base.
Today, safe drinking water is sourced from the Catskill Aqueduct, but Newburgh and surrounding communities continue to fight for a restored watershed and to ensure supportive health services for impacted residents.
